Plantar Fasciitis

Caring for plantar fasciitis

+THE BASICS
Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of Plantar Fascia (a ligament that connects heel bone to toes) due to repeated strain on the heel. The strain could be from excessive running, long-distance walking, or being overweight. It can also be caused by diabetes or having poor foot arch support in the footwear.
+MANAGING YOUR DAY
Apart from medication, resting the feet and providing cold compression is equally essential in managing plantar fasciitis. Wearing a footwear with good arch support and cushioning is crucial for pain relief. Shoe inserts like silicone heel cushions, silicone insoles can be used to alleviate pain emerging from the heels. In severe cases, a good heel splint is recommended. Heat therapy products like infrared massagers, lamps, hot and cold packs and foot warmer are very helpful to relieve pain and generate warm comfort to the feet. Foot bubble spa helps to relieve discomfort and muscle stress. In case you are facing difficulty in walking due to plantar fasciitis, a walking stick can be beneficial.
