+How it Works

• Indian classical music has been known for ages for its potential to relieve the symptoms of certain ailments of the body and the mind. Music Therapy has been popular since ancient times. It was known as the Gandharva Veda in Ayurveda. It flourished during the time of the great musician Tansen from Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court.
• The three major energy centres or Doshas of our body maintain the balance of health at their optimum levels. Imbalance of these energy centres gives rise to different ailments
• In modern days, to aid in the treatment of the diseases, different Ragas are modified and played in an organised manner for a specific stipulated time
• Ayurveda identifies hypertension or high blood pressure as an effect of vitiated Vyan Vayu. Any disturbance in the activity of the heart and Vyan Vayu leads to hypertension. The heart being the seat of the mind and the sadhak pitta, stress also acts as one of the major factors contributing to hypertension. Calming the mind and regaining the activity of vyan vayu and sadhak pitta reduces hypertension
• Two different Ragas of different times have been used to treat the ailment
• Both the Ragas on this album are of serious mood. The melody of Raag Todi played on sitar, and Raag Puriya played on Veena acts as an auditory stimulus to the brain. The brain has an overall calming response which in turn slows down accelerated heart rate and lowers blood pressure
• The first track based on Raag Todi is to be heard between 7 am to 10 am. The second track based on Raag Puriya is to be heard between 7 pm to 10 pm
• Listening to soft Indian classical music played on stringed instruments as Veena and Sitar improves blood circulation and thus a steady blood pressure is maintained
